Here to serve.

Along with our commitment to customer service, we at Market Street have a first-rate commitment to community service, too. In fact, one of our company goals is to build up every community in which we do business. All across Texas, we’ve pitched in on a range of projects – from high school scoreboards, United Way agencies and Little League teams to elementary school classrooms, health and social service agencies and local civic events.

Here in the McKinney area, we’re proud to support events at several houses of worship and a number of outstanding organizations, including:

McKinney ISD

Frisco ISD

Celina Schools

Prosper Schools

Mane Gait

Rotary Club

Special Olympics

Relay for Life

YMCA

Samaritan Inn

Habitat for Humanity

In addition to donating cash and merchandise and sponsoring local civic and charitable events, we also host our own fundraising events. Our annual Jacky Pierce Charity Golf Classic has raised more than $2 million for charities since its inception. One of our greatest privileges is making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

United Supermarkets was named the inaugural winner of the Supermarket News Community Service Award in 2003 for its innovative concept of UCrew community volunteer teams. UCrew organizes volunteer team members to provide community service in every United neighborhood.

Each store’s UCrew team conducts approximately six group service activities each year. These activities support local nonprofit and/or church-affiliated organizations. UCrew teams have helped build Habitat for Humanity houses, fed the hungry, worked at charitable fundraising events, cleaned up neighborhoods and highways and assisted local schools.

Created by Co-President Matt Bumstead, the program has four major purposes:

  • To provide team members with opportunities to get involved in and serve their local communities.
  • To increase United Supermarkets’ ability to give back to its communities.
  • To provide team members with the opportunity to strengthen relationships with co-workers.
  • To encourage and model service to the community.
